What VideoPowers does

VideoPowers is a local-first Chrome extension for controlling compatible HTML5 video and audio in the browser. It adds playback controls, seeking, looping, screenshots, captions, picture-in-picture, fullscreen, saved videos, playlists, local history, time-saved statistics, per-site settings, customizable controls, and themes.

Information stored by the extension

VideoPowers stores product data in Chrome extension storage on the user's device. Preferences may sync through the user's Google account when Chrome Sync is enabled.

• Settings, keyboard shortcuts, speed presets, remembered playback speeds, overlay layout, colors, visibility choices, and disabled-site choices.
• Optional local viewing history, saved videos, playlists, saved moments, notes, playback positions, watched ranges, and time-saved statistics.
• Onboarding state, feedback prompt timing or dismissal, Ad Assistance preferences, and a bounded local troubleshooting log.

Website and media access

VideoPowers runs on webpages where the extension is installed and enabled so it can find compatible media, show its controls, read playback state and available media metadata for visible local features, and perform user-requested controls. Page access is not used for advertising, profiling, or remote processing.

Screenshots and thumbnails

Screenshots are created locally after a user action. A downloaded screenshot leaves Chrome only if the user later shares it. VideoPowers stores remote thumbnail URLs rather than thumbnail image files, so displaying a thumbnail may cause Chrome to request it from the originating platform or image host.

Ad Assistance

Automatic Ad Assistance is optional and off by default. It can attempt supported visible skip controls, bounded jumps, or temporary tab muting where safe and available. It does not block, remove, bypass, or conceal advertisements or access restrictions.

Payments and accounts

The current public beta does not require a TKApps account for local extension behavior. Paid checkout, license validation, and account-linked features are not active yet. If paid access opens later, payment details will be handled by the approved checkout provider; TKApps will not store full payment-card numbers.

Control and retention

Users can disable new history and statistics, clear local history, statistics, playlists, moments, notes, and diagnostics, export or import settings and local data, restore settings, disable the overlay, delete local extension data, or uninstall the extension. Data remains until the user clears it or Chrome removes extension storage.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

VideoPowers uses information only to provide and improve its user-facing playback and organization features. It does not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising, use it for creditworthiness or lending, or make local records available for human review unless a user deliberately exports and shares them for support.
